For me, the very act of introducing an assemblage of materials formed
by human hands and produced in a studio, into the external or "natural" world, immediately brings into question the strength of the link between humankind and nature. This act, or "interruption", profoundly alters the viewer's perception. What was once not there, now is. Whereas the existing "trunk" of a tree warps and bends, the new, manufactured "trunk" addition is rigid and unyielding. It obviously doesn't belong. In addition, the vivid red cocoon is a lipstick smear on a cheek...a kiss from living lips that are covered in a "dead", manufactured product. This dichotomy is always and profound; altering the moment, entangled in space, all hanging by a mere thread.
