This piece is endemic of a recent body of work I have been pursuing which takes the notion of interpretation to be a starting point, rather than an assumption. The three legged frame, inset into a corner, provokes the viewer to instantly fill in the missing cube. Yet the stark red color of the incomplete frame demands definition all it's own. The equivocation between space and structure, volume and mass, and positive and negative is meant to be a sort of meditation on phenomenological experience. |
